Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) and similar laws in Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon, and other U.S. states, you have the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information and of the processing of your personal information for purposes of targeted advertising. This page explains how DegreeGoals honors that right.

What "Sale" and "Sharing" Mean Here

DegreeGoals is an advertising-supported education matching service. When you submit a request form, we transfer the information you provide (such as your name, contact details, ZIP code, and program interests) to one or more schools, their agents, and their marketing partners so they can contact you about educational opportunities. We also use cookies, pixels, and similar technologies from advertising and analytics partners (including Google, Meta, Microsoft, and TikTok) to measure campaigns and show relevant ads. Under some state laws, these activities are considered a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information — even when no money changes hands for your specific data.

Categories of Information Involved

  • Identifiers such as name, email address, phone number, and IP address;
  • Contact information you submit through forms;
  • Demographic information such as ZIP code, date of birth, education level, and military status;
  • Internet or other electronic network activity, including browsing and interaction data;
  • Inferences drawn from the above about your program interests.

How to Opt Out

You can exercise your opt-out right in any of the following ways:

  1. Email us. Send a message to privacy@degreegoals.com with the subject line "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information." Please include your full name, email address, phone number, and ZIP code so we can locate your records.
  2. Enable Global Privacy Control (GPC). We honor the Global Privacy Control browser signal as a valid opt-out of sale/sharing and targeted advertising for the browser and device sending the signal.
  3. Opt out of interest-based advertising with industry tools: DAA WebChoices and the NAI Opt-Out.

Submit a Privacy Rights Request

Use the form below to submit your request. We honor requests to opt out of the sale/sharing of your personal information, to access, correct, or delete your data, and to limit the use of sensitive personal information under the CCPA/CPRA and comparable state laws.

Authorized agents must be able to provide written proof of authorization on request.

Authorized Agents

You may designate an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf. We will require written proof of the agent's authorization and may need to verify your identity directly before honoring the request.

Verification

To protect your privacy, we will take reasonable steps to verify your identity before processing your request. This may involve matching the information you provide with information already in our records. We will not use information collected for verification for any other purpose.

Response Time

We will process valid opt-out requests within 15 business days (or as otherwise required by law). Please note that opting out will not delete information already shared with schools or partners in response to a prior request; to ask those parties to stop contacting you, please contact them directly or reply STOP to any text message and unsubscribe from any email you receive.

Non-Discrimination

We will not deny you services, charge you different prices, or provide a different level of service because you exercised your privacy rights.
